Bone-in meat from Brazil is sold cheaper than local meat

The Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries, Fernando Mattos, said this Thursday morning that the “forty little tons” of bone-in meat that arrived from Brazil in mid-August were sold at a significantly cheaper price than local production. . The first truck arrived in Uruguay on August 15 from the state of Rondonia, a region “with a higher health status,” Mattos recalled. Until now, only boneless merchandise entered from the different markets – fundamentally from Brazil and Paraguay. The government authorized the importation of this product with the aim of registering a drop in price in the domestic market.
