They warn of price increases after a ban on transgenic corn

A group of Mexican and US agricultural organizations released a study in which they assure that the restrictions imposed by Mexico on genetically modified corn will cause an increase in the price of grain and other products derived from corn, such as tortillas, or egg production. and meat, in addition to affecting the availability of corn.

This prohibition of the Mexican government for the importation of transgenic corn from 2024 can “affect Mexico’s GDP to the point where it would fall 11 thousand 720 million dollars in 10 years and economic production would reduce 19 thousand 390 million dollars”.
