Mexican pork export plummets by almost 20%

Mexican pork export decreased by 18,3% between January and May 2023 in comparison to the same period last year.

The null exports to China during the last month have had an impact on this negative variation, which reached shipments of 82,400 tonnes in these months. However, the top 5 destinations of pork meat produced in Mexico continue to be Japan (with almost 70% share), China, the US, South Korea, and Canada.

Revenue

The revenue has been 18.8% less for the pork protein exported, going from US$ 402.1 million to US$ 326.6 million.

Imports

Mexico imported 615,400 tonnes, which is 15.4% more. The United States is the main supplier, with a share of almost 86%; others are Canada, Spain, and Chile.
