US beef takes up more than half of South Korea’s total imports in 2022

South Korea imported 256,910 tons of US beef last year, or 54.1 percent of its total veal imports of 474,511 tons, according to the United States Meat Export Federation (USMEF, according to its acronym in English). This proportion constitutes an increase of 2.8 percentage points compared to 2021. The volume and market share of US beef imports in 2022 were the highest levels since South Korea opened its market to US beef in 2008.
